Karen Elliott, a passionate dance enthusiast, established SMDS with the aim of fostering a vibrant and secure dance community that caters to students of all ages. Our primary goal is to provide exceptional instruction and cultivate fine technical artistry across all our classes. With nearly three decades of experience in dance teaching, Karen has empowered numerous young dancers to conquer their personal goals in various dance forms. Through our performances within the community, we strive to ignite a profound passion for dance as both an art form and a source of entertainment in today’s society.

Karen Elliott, a proud alumna of the University of Texas, holds a degree in dance. Hailing from Houston, she honed her skills at Langham Creek High School, where she served as an officer for their award-winning drill team. Additionally, Karen was a valued member of the Houston Theatrical Jazz Company. Her dance education began under the guidance of Paula Abbott in Houston and has since expanded through training with esteemed dancers and choreographers such as Rhonda Miller, Joey Dowling, Jay Fagan, Leslie Scott, and Thayne Jasperson. As a testament to her dedication to dance education, Karen is a 25 year member of the Texas Association Teachers of Dancing, having successfully passed the jazz entrance exam. Her unmatched love for teaching and dancing forms the foundation of our studio’s exceptional learning environment.
